On a mission to protect people
Securitas is one of the largest security services companies in the world—and there’s a good chance you’ve heard of them and even benefitted from their protection. That’s because they protect the homes, workplaces and communities where we all live and work. And they do that based on three fundamental values: Integrity, Vigilance and Helpfulness. It is with these tenets in mind that Securitas joined forces with Kantola Training Solutions to implement a harassment prevention training solution that would uphold their values, support their corporate culture and align with their mission of protection.
Harassment prevention is integral to the Securitas mission
Because Securitas’ aim is to protect both its customers and employees, it’s natural that harassment prevention is at the forefront of the company’s priorities. As Antonia Elliott, Vice President of Talent Development, Securitas North America puts it, “Our employees are most effective when they’re happy at work and able to focus their time and attention on their tasks. And that’s only possible in a safe and harassment-free environment.”
For Securitas, supporting a safe environment includes ensuring that legal safeguards are in place that protect employees, the organization and its clients. It also means having training throughout the organization to help employees understand how they can help create a safe and respectful culture.
PURPOSE
Every day 358,000 Securitas employees from around the world are united in a common purpose—to help make your world a safer place. This purpose, along with the values of Integrity, Vigilance and Helpfulness, underline the organization’s high ethical standards and serve as a compass for those employees.

Connecting to the leadership framework and talent strategy
With a focus on core values, Securitas’ harassment prevention efforts include bringing their leaders and managers into the fold by connecting them to a leadership framework that focuses on respect, appreciation and understanding diverse perspectives.
Securitas takes an equally thoughtful and discerning approach to their talent strategy for all employees. Elliott shared that “A key factor to our talent strategy is to build a culture of learning. That means ensuring a high level of relevance, consistency and excellence in the type of education and training we provide for employees.” For Elliott and the team, harassment prevention training must go beyond compliance by helping their employees to learn, grow and reflect on how their behavior can impact others.
What Securitas needed in its training
In choosing their harassment prevention training, Securitas, like most large companies, conducted an RFP process to seek out a solution that would fit with their well-defined goals. After careful consideration, they selected Kantola, primarily based on the following key factors.
A trusted provider who ensures compliance with content that strikes the right tone
On the must-have list for Securitas: a training solution that ensures compliance through ongoing legal reviews of training requirements and subsequent updates. Plus, they wanted a provider who could deliver a smooth and hassle-free implementation process.
Moreover, the training needed to strike the right tone—going beyond obvious depictions of egregious behavior to cover more nuanced situations with a thoughtful and sensitive approach. In this way employees would be better able to understand and identify the kind of behaviors that could ultimately lead to harassment.
Training that’s modern, relatable and engaging for everyone
Because Securitas is a major global company, they wanted training that would fit a large and varied employee base. Elliott emphasizes, “We have a diverse employee population at Securitas, and we need training that’s relatable for a wide variety of people and cultures.” Kantola’s training was the best fit because it includes a broad range of people from many walks of life, featured in an authentic and natural way.
The interactive scenes and realistic scenarios threaded throughout Kantola’s training offer the kind of engaging and immersive experience that the Securitas team wants to provide for their employees. That, combined with the fact that training is updated every year and is designed to evolve with the changing social landscape, were key differentiators in favor of Kantola.
We want training that has a modern feel and approach. We went with Kantola because it’s comprehensive, engaging and realistic for today’s social climate.

Next steps
In addition to harassment prevention training, as part of a larger strategy for diversity, equity and inclusion, the Securitas team is rolling out DEI training in an incremental way to include all 121,000 North American employees. In choosing their DEI training solution, Securitas’ leadership was impressed by Kantola’s balanced tone and approach to sensitive issues.
As we develop our full DEI strategy, we've identified some of the best starter pieces, like eLearning. We chose Kantola's training because it's engaging and strikes just the right tone. It helps employees feel safe and comfortable to learn, discover and reflect.

Going forward, for both harassment prevention and DEI training, the Securitas team will carry on with gathering ideas and feedback on the effectiveness of the training and its ability to impact employee behavior in support of a respectful and inclusive work environment. They will continue to monitor the conduct of employees in relation to their clients—striving to ensure that both employees and customers feel respected, protected and supported. Kantola is proud to serve Securitas with a relatable, engaging and trusted training solution that supports their needs now and into the future.
