In an effort to reframe fundamental perspectives of DEI, Work Equity, an initiative of the Center for Social Innovation at the Boston College School of Social Work, partnered with SHRM, the largest global membership organization of HR practitioners, to conduct the National Study of Workplace Equity.

A recent joint study by our partners at Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) in collaboration with Gap International examined the importance of organizational resilience during difficult times. A shared characteristic among them? Inclusiveness.

For 75 years, SHRM has served millions of HR professionals who-in turn have continued on to impact the lives of billions of workers across the world. When we attended SHRM22 in New Orleans last week, we celebrated the relationships formed over those years and how we can move forward collectively to make workplaces better, for everyone.

According to SHRM, approximately 20 million workers left their jobs between May and September this year—which is 50 percent more than in the same period last year, when employees were still locked down in the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The killing of George Floyd, according to Byna Elliott, turned our perceptions of DEI work from a distant aspiration, into something that organizations will be, and should be, held accountable for both by employees and customers.
